What I did on my birthday:

I had presents.  They were very nice.  I really liked them.

Picture
We're at Kruger.  We saw the big five animals in one day today on MY birthday!

They were buffalo at the watering hole.  There was 200!

Picture
I saw a leopard in a tree it was moving.  It had red breakfast.

And we saw some giraffes they were really tall.

We saw some rhinos and we also saw some elephants.

And we saw some lions they poked their heads at us and then they looked at us.

I'm a chipetarian.  I only eat chips.  And birthday cakes.

Ha ha! I think I might NOT share your latest blog message with your friends at Tai Tamariki. I can just imagine the chaos at kai time with all the children telling us they will not eat their sandwiches and fruit because they have become chipetarians! Or caketarians! We will have to get buckets of chips from the cafe to feed everyone. Yikes!
What a rockin' great way to celebrate your birthday Phoebe - the big five wild bunch for each of your years. Amazing! And your beautifully chosen gifts that will remind you of the places you've visited every time you look at them. Do you think you might need to stay with me for a while when you get back to Wellington so that you will be a bit closer to the zoo? You might be missing these animals for a while! I can't wait to talk to you about what it has been like living in such an amazing country for 4 months.
And that will be very soooooooon! Only one more week. Yippee!

Love you,
Ardxx

Ooooooh; I put this wee poem up for your birthday, but lots of your messages have disappeared off your page - including it - and I wouldn't like you to think we forgot about you - so here it is again! Lots of Love!

Party Animals

A rainbow splashed upon a page
The colours danced and played
Then holding hands, they made a line
And joined a great parade

The colours marched across the page
Then skipped and flipped and flopped
They tumbled and did somersaults
They jumped and bunny-hopped!

Upon the page they painted lines
And shapes and sounds and sights
And out popped all things wonderful
Surprises and delights!

The rainbow made a birthday card
With pictures and with songs
And all the party animals
Joined in and sang along

They chirped and clucked and squeaked and buzzed
They roared and hummed and howled
They whistled and they bellowed
They yelped and barked and yowled

They chuckled and they chortled
They whinnied and they whooped
They hooted and they bleated
And went all loopy-de-looped!

They had such fun they snorted
They grunted and they crowed
They hissed and squawked and warbled
‘Til their laughter over-flowed!

And guess what they were singing
With a baa and caw and coo
It was, “A Very Happy Birthday
From All of Us to You!!”

A birthday puzzle…
...get everyone together and have fun guessing all the African animals that sang “Happy Birthday” to you, Phoebe!
